The Art of Knowing When to Stop

As an artist, the process of finishing a piece can be daunting. It's difficult to pinpoint when a piece is truly finished, as there always seems to be some room for improvement. In my latest work, "Grogu," I struggled with this balance, having thought I'd finished the piece twice before finally settling on the end result. It's a delicate line that every artist must navigate with great care, to avoid both an unfinished or overworked piece. Despite the challenge, it's a gratifying feeling to finally achieve the perfect balance and consider a piece complete.

For me, the decision of when to stop working on a piece varies from one artwork to another. Sometimes I simply feel like it's time to move on to something else, while other times it's when I find myself scrutinizing over small details that I realize I need to take a step back and evaluate if I'm losing the essence of the piece.
