Ride or Die
To date, this is one of my favorite pieces that I have completed. There are a number of things that I like about it, but primarily it is the execution not of the vibrant colors, but how it is the smallest detail that pulls the viewer in. I really like the idea of creating art that is “pretty on the wall” but has a fun or quirky story to go along with it.
The inspiration for this piece, you might be surprised to learn, is actually a scene from the famous 90’s movie “Thelma and Louise,” in which two best friends grip hands as they soar over a cliff’s edge in dramatic fashion.
One additional small detail that I particularly like is the car. I initially was planning on creating the car similar to the one from the movie, a ‘66 Thunderbird, but as I started working on it, I began to see my ‘96 Miata that I drove for years and still own, so I decided that would be a fun little touch.
