The painting of “Nate” - an emotional journey

Have you ever had an experience that was so intense and emotional that it stayed with you for a long time? That's exactly what happened to me while painting "Nate" for the "Cool Colors" monthly challenge at The PAPA Art Gallery.

As a big Coca-Cola drinker, I found nothing cooler and more refreshing than a full glass of iced Coke. So, armed with my favorite drink and my favorite tunes, I sat down to paint. Little did I know that this painting would take me on an emotional journey that I will never forget.

As I began to paint, I felt myself getting lost in the shapes of the ice and the glass, the colors of the drink as they transitioned from dark purples to golds and teals. It was a surreal experience that I can only describe as intense and emotional.

What made it even more special was the realization that I wasn't trying to match colors from a picture. Instead, I was seeing the world in front of me and translating it onto the canvas. It was pure, unadulterated art, and that has always been something I have struggled with: believing myself to be an artist. “Nate” helped me break through that barrier.

But why did I choose to name this piece "Nate"? That's a mystery I'll keep to myself for now. All I know is that this painting will always hold a special place in my heart, not because of the subject matter, but because of the emotional journey it took me on.
